Most businesses struggle with how to hire effectively. This is in part due to the lack of a solid recruitment strategy. I work with many hiring departments and business owners who have become disenchanted with candidates from Indeed and other job boards they actively use to find qualified applicants. They do not realize that the problem is not the job board itself but how it is used.
80% of the companies I meet with use job descriptions as their ads. If that sounds like your organization, then your APPROACH may be the problem, NOT the job board.
Most job boards today are search engines at their core, which means that if you are not following proper search engine optimization principles within your job ad, you are limiting your own visibility on the job board, which leads to attracting poor-quality applicants. This can be a waste of time!
In other words, using a job description as your job is what leads to poor-quality applicants from any job board! Sometimes, this leads to fewer applicants because your job ad is not as searchable, meaning the right applicants cannot find your job ad.
